![]() I swapped it out for a spare (that died somewhere along the line) and then my spare spare. It got hot enough to scorch the back of the PCB and cause the BBU to swell considerably. It was my raid card and the heatsink actually fell off the processor for reasons unknown. P.S I found one device recently that didn't thermal throttle. Because the processors will slow themselves to avoid damage. It's probably the only clue you will get there is a problem. If your finding performance is down and temps are stubbornly high then look into cooling it better. Hence why I just leave systems running where possible. Changes in temps constantly can kill stuff. In fact thermal stress will be your biggest issue. Gone are the days things used to die instantly due to heat because you pushed the OC too high. The CPU and GPU will sense the temperatures getting too high and throttle themselves to avoid damage and eventually just shut down. ![]() ![]() Parts today will have their own thermal limits and protections built in, so it’s not much of a concern for irreparable damage.Īll the heatsinks could fall off one day and it wouldn't matter. Pick, Assemble and Install: Video Guide. The chart gives the following information about the graphics card: it is. No intentionally harmful, misleading or joke advice There are multiple CPU temperature monitoring programs to choose from, with the best tools for checking CPU temperature, including Core Temp, NZXT's CAM, AIDA64, HWiINFO, or HWMonitor.
